This house’s facade reminds me of a shoebox with random holes cut into it and it is the same size as the condo I live in. This is a bank owned property and I think they are being a bit too optimistic with the price. I think this will stay on the market for a very long time if they don’t start cutting $100k a month. It is currently more than $100k less than its 2005 price.

1835 Bahia St, San Mateo, 94403 - I first listed this home in June, since then it has been cut $90k and is now $599,000.

4226 GEORGE Ave #4 San Mateo, CA 94403 – This one is only reduced around $12000, but it is $97k below its last sale price.

3629 PACIFIC Blvd San Mateo, CA 94403 – This home seller in trouble has cut the price another $30k today.  Now it is $146k below its last sale price.

621 HELLER St Redwood City, CA 94063 – This home just cut its price $79k and is now down $230k from its last sale price.

271 B St Redwood City, CA 94063 -After 23 days on the market this home has been reduced $50k today. It is now $54k below its last price.

This property was bought in the last bubble of the late 80s and has a pretty high HOA fee. Most likely this short sale won’t go through, but maybe someone will  help this guy out?

That picture makes it look like a very small house with a false wall. It doesn’t exactly scream million dollar home. Here are some comparable data from Redfin that shows a couple troubled homes that sold recently in the neighborhood:

So basically at $598 per square foot, this home is still overpriced for its neighborhood.

This former million dollar home does look pretty decent.  The price per square foot is also below the median for Pacifica.  More former million dollar homes will be listed this month.  Stayed tuned!

This is a house very close to Hillsborough, and it looks quite nice from the pictures.   The property tax on it costs way more than my rent.  The sales history on this property is quite interesting.  In the last bubble of 1990 it sold for $897k, and then in 1997 it went for only $850k.  By that logic, it would be worth a little less than now in 2012.

I love how the description of the house on Redfin reads:  “price hard to ignore given the advantages of owing in this area. probably best value home in the area. “  That’s right,if you buy this house you will owe somebody money.  That’s very appropriate I suppose.
