Cheapest Homes in San Mateo Cities by Price per Square Foot
Atherton – This home seller in trouble at 199 Selby is the cheapest home in Atherton in terms of price per square foot. At $1,825,000, it costs $546 per square foot.
Belmont – This huge 5 bedroom house in the Belmont hills is the best value per square foot. It has gone through a couple price drops in the 5+ months it has been listed and is now going for $342 per square foot. Still, it is nearly a million dollars.
Brisbane – This fairly new condo in Brisbane is going for $330 per square foot. It is only $9000 above its 2004 sales price.
Burlingame – Once again, we have a condo and it is now listing for $448 per squarefoot after a fairly decent pricecut.
Colma – In Colma, the best value belongs this home seller in trouble. At $331 per square foot, this McMansion is really a steal.
Daly City – After a couple huge price reductions, this huge house in Daly City now belongs to a home seller in trouble. It is now listing for $238 per square foot.
East Palo Alto – More than half of East Palo Alto homes belong to home sellers or banks in trouble. This house is half off from its last sale price and is now going for $186 per square foot. It’s not bad as long as you don’t mind the shootings. There has been 7 shootings in the last 10 days.
Foster City – This condo was included in the January home sellers in trouble, and since then it has dropped another $70k. So now it is at $400 per square foot.
Half Moon Bay – This house is another home seller in trouble. It has gone through a price cut last month and now it’s listing for $343 per square foot.
Hillsborough – This crazy mansion measuring over 6000 square feet is listing for $470 per square foot. It certainly looks impressive, but I don’t have $2.9 million and it seems that the property hasn’t appreciated much since 2000.
Menlo Park – This beauty in Menlo Park has gone through over 10 price cuts and is now listing for $337 per square foot. It has a hard time selling since it’s a foreclosure and it’s very close to East Palo Alto.
Millbrae – This is yet another mansion that’s too big for me to manage. It is $398 per square foot.
Pacifica – This house on an oversized corner lot now belongs to a home seller in trouble after two price cuts. It is listing for $321 per square foot.
Portola Valley – This is yet another McMansion over 3000 square feet. There’s not too much information on this property, but it is listing at $566 per square foot, which is the best deal in Portola Valley.
Redwood City – This is a duplex so the two units added together are supposedly 3000 square feet and that brings down the square foot price to $283. I’m a little dubious, though.
San Bruno – This house has been listed forever. It has gone through a lot of price cuts so I think it is a foreclosure. At $212 per square foot, it is not that bad for San Mateo County.
San Carlos – This is a fairly new listing that supposedly is only $388 per square foot in San Carlos. Is the listing agent trying to start a bidding war?
San Mateo – I’m not sure what is wrong with this house, but it has been going through tons of pricecuts and has been on the market forever. Now it’s down to $329 per square foot. Time to buy?
San Francisco – This property is kind of weird and seems to be mixed use. It sold for 1.1 million three years ago and now it’s $300,000 off and the price per square foot is $228.
Woodside – It is kind of hard driving up to this retreat mansion, but it is the cheapest per square foot in Woodside at $490 per square foot.
There you have it, some of the best “values” in San Mateo County. Next time I’ll list the most expensive places by square foot. That would be more fun to see because some of those home sellers are just delusional.
